This weekend we went to Kingston, about 2 and a half hours east of Toronto, to see Mike's cousin Kate and her husband Ryan who moved here last summer.

The weather was cold but not too bad, however most of the tourist attractions had closed down for the winter season, or were only open for limited hours.

On Saturday we had pizza for lunch at Wooden Heads

A Hatleys outlet shop, unfortunately no pyjama sets in my size but Mike got a couple of t-shirts

Chocolate cafe for hot chocolate and a slice of chocolate cake to warm up :)

Kingston brewing Company (pub) for dinner

On Sunday we went for a drive around Kingston and the surrounding area. The Lake was frozen over and people were ice skating on it.

Kate and Ryan cooked a very yummy roast beef dinner for us on Sunday evening before we caught the bus back to Toronto :)

We went to Canoe for dinner for our 6 month wedding anniversary, using the gift card we received as our wedding gift from Zeus, Ben, Jon and Sarah.

The restaurant was on the 54th floor, and we had a view of the CN Tower.

Complimentary bread with roasted red pepper and chick pea spread

and an egg cup sized bowl of soup.

For the mains I had the lamb, and Mike had rib eye steak

and for dessert - sticky toffee date pudding, with passion fruit ice cream for me

and a rooibos and gianduja mousse, with crispy hazelnut dark chocolate and sesame sorbet for Mike

and then a cup of herbal tea to finish.

On Friday we caught the Megabus to Niagara. A month or so ago Megabus was running a promotion where you could 'buy' bus tickets for free - so off we went to The Falls for the night.

We got there around 9:30pm on Friday and caught a taxi to the Embassy Suites hotel, which we had bought on Groupon. We were upgraded to the Junior Presidential suite(!) as they had already allocated all the King sized rooms with views of The Falls (which is what we had booked), and received a $40 coupon for TGI Fridays and $50 to spend at the arcades. With breakfast included (and complimentary drink at the managers reception if we had been there in time) it was a pretty good deal for $125.

On Saturday we walked around Niagara and found a little shop selling British chocolate and sweets. We never fail to be excited by such discoveries even though the prices are always so high! Luckily we received some Cadburys chocolate for christmas (thanks mum and Ruth!) but I got some Maynards Sports Mix they were selling off and Mike some Jaffa Cakes.

We had lunch at our favourite restaurant in Niagara - Bravo Pizza, and discovered you can buy Beavertails just off Clifton Hill! Skor bar and cheesecake, delicious!

We had a lot of at the arcade spending our $50 which went so far we kept some of the credit for next time. Our favourite game was the one below where you had to stop the marker between the yellow lines on the number 10, then 20, 30, 40 and the jackpot successively, and you receive the number of tokens corresponding with the highest number you successfully completed. We reached the 40!

We played pool, pinball, car racing and motorbike racing games, ball throwing and various other games. We managed to get 564 tokens by the end. It sounds like a lot but when we looked and what you could get in exchange for the tokens, we couldn't even get a box of chalk!

Our bus back to Toronto wasn't until 10:15pm so we decided to go to the outlet shops but managed to get there just as they were closing, so we went for a drink before dinner at TGI's. We got 2 starters and shared a main. And we paid $6!

On Sunday morning we went back to Bryant Park to walk around the Christmas market again, and got a Nutella Crepe

We walked in Central Park while we waited for a table to become available at Candle 79 for lunch

Candle 79 is a vegan restaurant - I had a buritto and Mike a stuffed avocado, and then we both had a vegan chocolate brownie for dessert - the food was really good :)

We called by The Pony Bar again, this time on the Upper East Side, and then headed to the bus station for the bus back to Toronto.
