Day 2 at Pensacola Beach

We're prepared for the beach this time with swimming costumes/shorts, towels and beer (for Mike)

Reading Call The Midwive

We even picked up a lilo from Walmart for $2.97

Got a new top :)

There is a free tram that goes between all the hotels and the beach so we hopped on to have a look around

Back at the Brick Pit for dinner

Day 3

Getting some lunch

We only need to share one meal when we're in the States!

On our way home

Got a ride on a golf buggy at the airport! Woohoo! All the way from this parting position to the end of the door at the end!

Snacks at Chicago airport

Back in buffalo Mike made us walk to Duff's for Chicken wings in the RAIN! I was not happy, but we did get a taxi back to the airport afterwards to get on the bus to Toronto.

And it was very yummy!

Road trip from New Orleans

After the conference we rented a car and decided to drive through from New Orleans in Louisiana, through Mississippi, to Mobile in Alabama. The trip from New Orleans to Mobile is listed as one of the top 5 coastal road trips in the States, and Mobile is also the nearest town in to Bluebelle in the Hart of Dixie!

Along the way we had to get out the car for a paddle in the Gulf of Mexico at Long Beach, since we were thinking this would be our one and only chance

We stopped at Darwell's Cafe for some traditional Mississippi fare after Mike came across it on on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives

It was Delicious

The next day we were trying to decide what to do. We decided that since we were so close to the Florida State Line we might as well pop over and have a picnic in one of the parks. On our way I spotted a sign for Pensacola and remembered there was a beach there! Mike looked it up and soon we were on our way to the beach instead.

We spent the day at the beach on the sun loungers underneath an umbrella and decided we would come back here everyday! We called the car rental company and extended our booking another 2 days!

Dinner was at the Brick Pit, with amazing fall off the bone BBQ food that had been cooking for 36 hours. It was so good we came back the next day too!

New Orleans pt 2 - The time we came face to face with alligators (Honey Island Swamp Tours)

A lot of the houses along the swamp were damaged in hurricane Katrina but many are still standing with people living there. A bet they get a lot of wildlife coming into their house!

Wildlife on the swamp... I think it's a heron

An alligator swims towards us

The tour guide feeds the alligators hot dog sausages

A very cool trip. We saw 5 alligators altogether, but got a lot of mosquito bites!
